The Hennops hiking trails are tucked away less than an hour out of Joburg and are a fantastic way to spend a Sunday morning, as my friends and I discovered today. Hennops offers three different trails for you to choose from ranging from 2.5 km to 11 km, we decided the the 6.5 km Zebra route was most suitable for us.
The hike wasn’t physically taxing and along the route we spotted a herd of horses with a Zebra in the mix, which wasn’t gracious enough to turn around for a picture. So we basically took selfies with the Zebra’s buttocks, well some of us arrived home to realise the Zebra was but a blur in the background of my afro. Anyhow we were lucky enough to spot a zeal of Zebras about a kilometer on wards which was quite spectacular to see. We also took in the beautiful views through out the hike and really just marveled at natures splendour.
We decided to end off our hike with a “brunch picnic” at the picnic area which also has braai facilities and two swimming pools. All in all Hennops gets a big thumbs up from me , a great addition to weekend activities for families, friends and couples for just R60 per person. Oh if you thinking of organising a hike consider sending them a pretty invite with all important details for the day, check out my invite in the picture gallery below.
