SAB World of Beer Mueseum

2019 I have decided to channel the inner tourist and discover treasures in the city I live in and broader SA.

Trying to figure out what to do I ventured to trip advisor to pin down what to do. Found a decent list of places not too far that also wouldn’t require too much time and didn’t cost more than R500 for 2 people.

I came across the SAB Mueseum tour which seemed interesting and was centered around beer which my companion enjoys and I too on occasion.

We went on a Sunday afternoon the tour itself takes an hour. Where they take you through the history of SAB , different methods of brewing beer all in different parts of the mueseum. They also have interesting artifacts that speak to different eras. Quit a quaint experience that was hidden to in JHB all this time.

We had an awesome tour guide, Siya, who narrated the different elements of the tour with charisma which made it even more fun. Our tour ended with a beer tasting where Siya guided our pallets on what we were tasting and how the different flavours are best paired with food. I certainly learnt a lot on this visit.

Definitely a late afternoon well spent. In total we spent 3 hours at the site and they have a bar where you can try other beers and just relax. The whole SAB World of beer team is extremely professional and friendly.
